Musician Karuga Kimani popularly known as KRG the Don has announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.
In a statement shared via his official Instagram page, the artiste stated that he was done with all aspects of the entertainment scene including showbiz, influencing, controversy and music to focus on better things.
He particularly told his fans that he would be shifting his attention to his goals, business, God and his family. The vocal musician also announced plans to venture into elective politics in the upcoming general elections.
Without specifying the post he will be vying for, KRG noted that he will be transitioning to politics and will launch campaigns in 2026.
“That phase of my life is done nimemalizana na entertainment (music, showbiz, influencing, controversy & series) I enjoyed every single moment from online fights, vipindire mingi pia high and embarrassing situations,” he wrote.
“I wanna spend my time doing better things (God, myself, family, business & education) as I transition to politics polepole tu!! My silence will be as loud as the noise was until 2026 time ya campaigns tukifanya siasa safi. Kwa wale tuko na pending business tukutane nyuma ya tent tumalizane chini ya maji ndio tukue in good books coz our future together is so bright. All those who supported the “movement” Mungu azidi kuwabariki sana nyinyi ni watu wa power sana miaka mia sita hamsini.”
In June, the singer announced that he will be contesting for a parliamentary seat in 2027.
Expressing optimism, KRG said he will not be revealing the constituency he would vie for yet to avoid being bombarded with calls and requests for help.
“I want to start with MP. I don’t want to disclose the constituency yet. I don’t want people to panic saa hii. You know when people hear Bughaa anataka Mp, and then also sitaki kutoa pesa ya matanga. So if I declare it is a certain place, na hao watu wa mahali hio wako na number yangu, sasa they will make it my personal business,” KRG said during an interview with a local TV station.
