Kiambu County governor Kimani Wamatangi has been shouted at by residents forcing President William Ruto to take quick action to salvage the situation in Githurai.
This was after he had decided to call on Wamatangi so that he could address the people that had gathered in large numbers awaiting his speech.
“Haiya wacha nipatie governor wetu hapa wa Kiambu bwana Wamatangi,” said President William Ruto.
A few seconds later, the crowd turned against Wamatangi to the extent that he could hardly speak and be heard by his audience as shouting had gained ground.
The crowd was heard shouting and telling him that they wanted to be addressed by a politician named Mwafrika. He was then compelled to call him so that things can be better on his side.
This incident made Wamatangi to pause his speech for a moment so that the situation could revert to normal before he could continue delivering his message.
On the other hand, the president was continuously trying to signal the crowd with his hands so that they could calm down and listen to Wamatangi.
“Hayaa wana Kiambu hamjambo? Wana Githurai hamjambo? Tusalimiane kwa hewa. Haya asante. Rais wetu tunataka. Haya asante Mwafrika ataongea. Your excellency, haya Mwafrika wewe pita pande hii. Haya Mwafrika ako hapa,” said governor Kimani Wamatangi.
