Majority leader of the National Assembly Hon Kimani Ichungwah has warned the executive not to undermine the independence of Parliament.
“The independence of Parliament remains supreme, and its oversight role is cardinal. Let no one think just because they serve in the executive we will relent on subjecting them to accountability”. He said.
He claimed that he is Committed to upholding a rigorous and impartial stance as the majority leader of the National Assembly.
As the Leader of Majority, I am committed to upholding a rigorous and impartial stance, I will ensure a high level of scrutiny and accountability to all Cabinet Secretaries. I do not hold a brief for the executive or CSs in Parliament.Â
His sentiments comes hours after sports CS Ababu Namwamba presented himself before the National Assembly for questioning.
“The same way I will push and defend government business on the floor of the House is the same vigor and gusto I will deploy in holding ministers accountable”. He added.
