After weeks of silence, Kisumu County senauir Prof. Tom Ojienda has made a rare public appearance when he joined other Luo Nyanza politicians in meeting President William Ruto at State House.
Prof. Ojienda who was elected on an ODM party ticket is among the opposition politicians who have pledged their support for President Ruto.
Initially a key supporter of the ODM party leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Prof. Ojienda has become a marked man after decamping to the Ruto axis.
The King’s College-trained lawyer is the most educated senator in the country. In fact he is the only professor in the “Upper House”.
At the time pressure was mounting on him after pledging his support for the Head of State, the former Law Society of Kenya chairman decided to take a low profile. Perhaps, he was studying the political environment before reemerging in a State House meeting with other Luo Nyanza politicians.
