“From 9 am Tuesday 19th to 9 am Wednesday 20th November 2024: Light to moderate rainfall is expected across various areas within the metropolis, with ISOLATED HEAVY rainfall and storms likely in some regions,” stated Kenya Met in part.
Regions expected to receive heavy downpours are a majority of Lang’ata Constituency as well as Embakasi East, West, and South estates with other areas expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.
Makadara, Kamukunji, and parts of Starehe are also expected to receive moderate to heavy downpours.
Other parts slated to receive heavy downpours are parts of Westlands as well as Roysambu, Ruaraka, Mathare, and both Dagoretti North and South.
Light and moderate rainfall will be experienced in parts of Lang’ata, parts of Embakasi West, and parts of Westlands as well as Kasarani, Embakasi Central and Kibera neighbourhoods.
Nairobi’s next-door counties including Kajiado, Kiambu, and Machakos counties will also be experiencing bouts of rainfall according to the latest report.
Regions around Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, South-eastern Lowlands, Coast, North-western, and North-eastern Kenya are expected to experience rains.Â
More specifically Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi are areas across the country expected to experience heavy rainfall with occasional thunderstorms.
Heavy downpours also carry a major risk of flooding, especially in the Nairobi areas where much of the blame has been pinned on poor drainage systems.
