The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has flagged a fake job advertisement claiming that they will be conducting a recruitment exercise for service personnel and civilian employees from August 26 to September 9, 2024.
“Our attention has been drawn to information circulating online regarding the recruitment process for the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). The online platforms purport to advertise recruitment on behalf of KDF, and the announcements insinuate that application forms for the recruitment of service personnel and civilian employees of the Ministry and the exercise is claimed to begin on 26th August 2024 to 9th September 2024.
“Further, potential candidates are being urged to log onto the job portal (www.mod.go.ke). Ironically, the advertisement warns the public against malpractices in the alleged recruitment exercise,” KDF said in their statement.
But in a rejoinder shared via their official social media pages, KDF rubbished the poster noting that all official KDF recruitment drives are announced through mainstream media and their official website.
KDF termed the announcement as misleading information intended to defraud unsuspecting individuals, warning that all recruitment is free to all eligible candidates.
“In light of this, the Ministry of Defence wishes to categorically clarify to the public that the KDF has not advertised for any recruitment process, nor is it conducting any recruitment exercise at this time. The ministry emphasizes that the official KDF recruitment drive will be announced through mainstream media channels, the ministry’s official website (www.mod.go.ke), and KDF’s verified social media platforms.
“This misleading information circulating on social media is intended to deceive and defraud unsuspecting Kenyans. It is important to note that KDF recruitment is free to all eligible candidates. This ministry urges the public to remain vigilant and to avoid falling prey to such fraudulent schemes,” KDF said.
While warning Kenyans against such unverified information, the Ministry of Defence announced that efforts are underway to find the perpetrators behind the misleading poster and bring them to book.
“The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or individuals purporting to be recruiting for KDF to the nearest Police Station of M******y Camp.”
