Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA), Robert Alai, has called for the resignation of President William Ruto, citing concerns about governance failures.
Since assuming the presidency in Kenya, Ruto has been actively addressing various critical issues, including the cost of living, the economy, and corruption.
However, as he approaches one year in office, opinions on his leadership style and performance diverge among politicians and the Kenyan public.
“The only honourable thing they can do is to tender a resignation today and give it to president Raila Odinga. That way, we will take them seriously,” Alai said.
In an interview with TUKO.co.ke X Spaces, MCA Robert Alai asserted that it is time for the President to step down and transfer leadership to Azimio la Umoja, represented by One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga.
When asked about the basis for his controversial stance, Alai explained that Ruto’s government is facing challenges in multiple areas, particularly in policy implementation and maintaining the nation’s stability.
“The country’s power system is not stable. We are fumbling with education. ICT ministry is in shambles. The health minister spends 70% of her time talking about other ministries. The National Treasury is a complete failure. The shilling is crushing,” he claimed.
Alai further expressed dissatisfaction with President Ruto’s Cabinet secretaries, claiming that they have not effectively carried out their responsibilities and have struggled to meet the expectations of their respective ministries.
In his view, Alai believes that Ruto’s administration lacks a visionary approach, arguing that the President is merely fulfilling his expected duties rather than driving innovative and transformative changes in the country. This call for resignation highlights growing political tensions and divisions within Kenya’s leadership landscape.
