Judiciary refutes claims of Martha Koome’s meeting with Ruto

The Judiciary has been forced to address the news circulating online about the meeting of Chief Justice Martha Koome and President William Ruto.

In a statement published on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the Judiciary flagged the viral post containing the details about the meeting terming it as fake news.

The viral post had indicated that Martha Koome would be meeting with the president to discuss the alleged intimidation of the judges by State House operatives over Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment case.

Fake news

This is not the first time a false report about prominent people has been circulated on social media.

On Tuesday evening, October 15, 2024, impeached deputy president Rigathi Gachagua dismissed reports circulating that he had organised a press conference

In a statement on Tuesday, the head of the Deputy President’s Communications Service Njeri Rugene flagged the notice as fake.

First daughter Charlene Ruto who was also a victim of fake news flagged a false document purporting to be a gazette notice indicating her appointment as the chairperson of the National Mining Corporation for a fixed term of three years.

Charlene said mining was the least of her interests and that those spreading the false document lacked an understanding of President William Ruto in his commitment to equal opportunity in employment opportunities.

Guys…c’mon…seriously?? Tuwache fake news! And looks like whoever is pushing this doesn’t know President William Ruto. He believes in giving equal, fair and transparent leadership opportunities to as many Kenyans as possible, so trust me, this he would not do. Na mining tena? Not even youth? Or agriculture? Just so that you know it is really fake,” Charlene stated on Friday, October 11, 2024.

She said that she was heavily invested in her two startups where one deals in mechanised agricultural solutions with a bias towards sustainability while the other focuses on youth empowerment initiatives.

“I didn’t wait for anyone to give me an appointment or position, I am creating my own path Plus…my name is Chelagat, not Chelangat Don’t support this propaganda,” Charlene added.
