John Mbadi Agrees With President Ruto on Salary Pay Rise Debate, Sends MPs Message

Nominated Member of Parliament John Mbadi has supported president Ruto’s sentiments regarding the proposal made by Salaries and Renumeration Commission (SRC). The commision proposed to increase the salaries of senior government officers a bid that has sparked national debate.

Speaking on Friday, June 30 during the official launch of E-Citizen services at KICC, the president turned down the offer saying his administration is not after widening the economic gap between the rich and poor but to impact on Kenyans who are struggling to make ends meet.11ec6f5ca3724e6abb8321342ebc14fdRuto instead called SRC to adjust the salary of other civil servants among them teachers and police officers between 7% and 10%. In his recent media discourse, Mbadi echoed the president’s pronouncement saying this is not the time for MPs and senior government officials to receive pay rise.

Mbadi argued that the plight of Members of Parliament should be looked at after the country gets into its right economic trail. Ruto refusal to take the pay rise has earned him public admiration and criticism from opposition leaders who have hitherto decried reckless spending by Ruto’s administration.d8503fd126d14cecb9367cdf05dfcc6eMP Mbadi requested his National Assembly comrades to reject any pay rise attempt untill proper adjustments are made. The law maker cited that the present pay rise fraction given to Members of Parliament is small in amount.
