President William Ruto has singned the controversial Finance Bill 2023 into law. The president signed the bill at State house on Monday 26, June, 2023.
In the company of other prominent leaders, the commander of armed forces signed the bill that was passed by the parliament last week.
Kenyans have decried following the passing of this controversial Finance bill. Among the main reasons it’s facing rejection from Kenyans is the taxation rise. According to the proposal, the value added tax of gasoline is expected to stand at 16% from 8%.
The Bill was passed by the parliament with the majority of Kenya Kwanza MPs supporting the bill. MPs who rejected the bill were mostly from Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.
After the signing, President Ruto was seen sharing laughter and joy with other leaders including; The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, Prime Cs Musalia Mudavadi among others.
