“If I Tell My Residents To Attend Azimio Maandamano, They Will Stone Me, ” MP Now Says

The call for mass action by the Azimio leadership has continued to divide Kenyans and politicians right in the middle, all sharing varying views on the same matter. Part of Azimio followers have supported Odinga’s idea arguing that it will put the government on toes. Others feel that the protests will affect the country which is currently in it’s knees economically.

Kinangop member of parliament, Kwenya Thuku, who was elected on a Jubilee party ticket under the Azimio umbrella has said that he is not willing to engage in the mass action.

Speaking during a political interview Thursday, Thuku noted that his constituents want a leader who will bring them solutions instead of hoodwinking them to protest.

The lawmaker noted that his constituents have instructed him to work with the government adding that he would be stoned if he was to call them for mass protests.

“My constituents did not elect me to go and start beating empty sufurias and demonstrating. They elected me to go and provide them with solutions to their problems,” noted the MP.

“Nowadays when I go to a meeting and I tell people that I have decided to work with the government they appreciate very much. The same people who elected president William Ruto are the same people who elected me. I swear if I was to tell them to come out and demonstrate they would stone me to death. The big question would be what is there for them after demonstrating? I can’t just distract them from their normal ways of seeking livelihood to go and demonstrate,” added Thuku
