Almost five decades since the murder of her influential father, Rosemary Kariuki, the daughter of the former Nyandarua North MP Josiah Mwangi Kariuki, has embarked on a political career of her own.
Though she is not into elective politics, but Rosemary is an influential member of the Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga’s inner sanctum.
In ODM where she is the director of membership, Rosemary is one of the women who are very close to the former Prime Minister.
Though a member of the opposition, Rosemary, whose late father has become a symbol of political assassinations in the country, finds herself in government as a powerful figure in the UDA Governor-led county.
In 2022, soon after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja’s inauguration, he appointed Rosemary as one of his ministers. The daughter of the former MP is in-charge of trade, investments and hustler’s affairs in the capital city. How she ended up here remains a mystery. But it is believed that the ODM chief played a role in her appointment.
