Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader and former defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa have affirmed that high cost of living will top the bi-partisan agenda between the Kenya Kwanza and the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

Speaking in Bungoma on Saturday when he met DAP-K grassroot leaders, Wamalwa noted that the Azimio led teams are prepared to face their Kenya Kwanza counterparts as they commence the bipartisan talks at Bomas of Kenya on Monday.

He argues that the high cost of living and the IEBC issue will top the list in the discussion.

“We are ready and prepared to face our Kenya Kwanza counterparts in discussing the issues pressing Kenyans today, the high cost of living the issue to start with,” Wamalwa said.

He, however, said that the Azimio team has also presented a bill at the National assembly for the Members of Parliament (MP’s) to validate the bipartisan talks.

Former CS also said that the issue of the IEBC will take into consideration claiming the 2022 general elections was not free and fair, adding that when the IEBC is restructured there won’t be election rigging giving an opportunity for those who win to serve.

Wamalwa claims that National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula planned with President William Ruto to rig the elections.

“Everybody is aware that the 2022 general elections were not free and fair and it is one of the reasons for the bipartisan talks and we should ensure that before we get to the tail end of our discussion we should have gotten a solution to the IEBC,” Wamalwa said.

He added that even the Bungoma Senatorial by- election was not free and fair.

In addition, Wamalwa attacked President William Ruto for failing to fulfill his promises citing the purchase of a new mill at Nzoia sugar factory noting that the closure of the sugar factories in Kenya for six months will give the Kenya Kwanza cronies an opportunity to make billions of money.

He said that if it were fair, the government would have allowed the sugar factories to import sugar on its own.

“The shutting down of sugar factories in the Country was a clear plan to award his supporters (Ruto) who floored in the general elections tenders to import sugar so that they earn billions within the period the factories will be closed,” Wamalwa said.

Wamalwa said that recently, he held a meeting with Nzoia sugar farmers at Bukembe area in Bungoma County and the farmers disclosed that they have not been paid for more than 16 months.

Wamalwa called on the DAP-K MP’s, Governor, MCA’s and supporters to continue supporting the Azimio la Umoja coalition as they put the government in check.

“Ruto together with his people are thinking and planning how Kenya can remain a one party state therefore we need to love and support our own party, DAP-K,” he said.

Wafula Wamunyinyi, DAP-K deputy party leader said that he will support and grow the party as they prepare for the 2027 elections.

Also present was DAP-K secretary general Dr. Eseli Simiyu who said that in the 2027 general elections they won’t allow the IEBC to prepare for the elections.
