Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary, Davis Chirchir is now facing pressure from section of Political leaders who wants him to resign. This is due to the nationwide blackout that affected various parts of the country.
Led by former, Laikipia County Governor Nderitu Muriithi who said that the CS should now resign because the system failed to work under his watch. He said that if due process is looked into, then the CS should be resigning due to the power outage.
“If we were truly living up to superior standards in the public space, Chirchir (CS, Energy & Petroleum) should be resigning. The system failed to work under his watch.” Ndiritu Muriithi noted.
Same move has also been called for by Senator Dan Maanzo who said that the CS should resign because the incident took place under his watch paralysing the country’s operations. He also faulted the Transport and Infrastructure CS Murkomen over failure in leadership calling for his resignation too.
“Murkomen and Chirchir should resign. The inconvenience they caused Kenyans is more dangerous and expensive than maandamano” Maanzo said.
This happens as CS Chirchir is set to appear before the National Assembly Committee on Energy for grilling over the power blackout issue.
