‘He is a comedian’ – Karen Nyamu defends Bishop Kiengei amid online wrath

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has weighed on Bishop Ben Kiengei of JCM Church and digital content creator Pritty Vishy’s online saga.

In a statement shared on her official Facebook page on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Nyamu who was nominated to represent women in the Senate revealed that she has been asked to stand with Pritty Vishy in the spat between her and Bishop Kiengei.

According to Nyamu, the bishop’s statements were blown out of proportion, adding that he did nothing wrong since he is a comedian.

“It has come to my attention this morning via a comment on my Facebook, asking me to stand with the girl child in the spat by Pritty Vishy and Bishop Kiengei. I know Bishop is a comedian and he also shoots straight and can go overboard. But get his point. He wants Vishy to actually pick a hustle or something to be known about and not just her association with Simple Boy. If she can get that fact she can improve herself,” Karen said.

She further stated that even though the Bishop had publically apologised, she was certain that Pritty would not accept it.

“As for the way he said it I see he has apologised. No need to go into it. On the other hand, Vishy will never apologise to me lol, though me ata sinanga noma,” she added.

She further stated that she was disappointed since she had a soft spot for the vlogger.

“Today she’s crying because of lighter statements made about her. Yes, I said lighter.”

Online wrath

Bishop Kiengei has faced online backlash after his video about Vishy went viral with many calling him out stating that his utterances go against the teachings of love and acceptance that he preaches.

Others claimed that it was wrong of him to body shame and make fun of her appearance since we are all made in the image of God.

Bishop’s apology

The Bishop who doubles up as a radio presenter in a statement on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, apologised to Pritty Vishy after he made fun of her in a show.

Pritty Vishy has however declined the bishop’s apology stating that she wants it done the same way he made the disrespectful comments.

“When you widely opened your mouth to abusē me did you send your assistant ama ni yeye alikuandikia line? If you wanna talk to me talk to me directly, and before that I don’t want a written apology. I want a video, the same way you sat down and made that disrespectful video, do the same on the apology…don’t send pēoplē to me kwani walikusaidia kucheka?” she said.
