United Democratic Alliance party Member of Parliament Hon Zaheer Jhanda suffered a huge setback on Wednesday after Kisii residents refused to take money that he offered to give them.
While addressing a crowd at Kisii Town, the Nyaribari Chache lawmaker attempted to counter the Azimio la Umoja anti-government protests but his efforts were thwarted after residents heckled him.
At one point, he tried to Inform residents that he will give them Ksh 200 to reduce the pain that they are feeling as a result of the cost of living. However, residents could be heard rejecting his offer telling him to go away.
The vocal legislator went ahead and threatened to walk away with the money that is meant for them but residents maintained their grounds and informed them that they are not interested in his money.
He went ahead and asked them what they want him to do to address the cost of living. However, residents turned against him and they heckled him with anti-Ruto chants. The lawmaker was forced to enter into his car and sped away.
This comes after President William Samoei Ruto asked his allies to ensure that anti-government protests do not take place in their areas as one way of countering Azimio la Umoja anti-government protests.
