Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has recently delivered a brilliant response to Governors during the Uasin Gishu summit. Gachagua was responding to Azimio Governors who complained about their security being withdrawn.
The Government moved to withdraw the security of Azimio politicians during the demonstration period and Azimio saw Ruto and Gachagua’s way of hitting back at the opposition. However, as he delivered his speech during the Governors’ conference, Gachagua revealed the reason why Azimio’s security got withdrawn.
According to the former Mathira MP, there was a shortage of officers during the demonstration period. He went on to add that sending police officers to stop demonstrators would lead to conflict between police officers who protected politicians as body guards and Government officers who were involved during maandamano.
Gachagua also added that it would have been counterproductive for the Government to allow Azimio Governors to continue having additional security personnel, when the demonstrations they caused were responsible for police shortage. “You will get your security back when you stop your bad behavior.”
“We cannot allow our officers to be in Maandamano because they will have to fight their fellow officers, and it is wrong.” Gachagua said.
