Public reaction

Other Kenyans online have also tweeted about Mokaya’a disappearance and the recovery of his vehicle.

According to the police who investigated his case, the two were captured on CCTV cameras leaving a joint in town, where they had just had drinks, with little knowledge that a few hours later, they would meet their death.

Msando had been on an interview at a local TV station just before his death.

Critics linked his death to his critical role in the electoral process and some termed it as a crime of passion, after the young lady’s sister revealed on television that the two had a romantic relationship.

Mokaya’s missing

Unlike Msando, Mokaya had already stopped working at the treasury department long before he went missing.

Detectives are now on every corner undertaking an intensive search to ensure they find the businessman and former treasury official.

It is not yet known whether the detectives have attempted to trace his phone, to know his whereabouts, as it was not among the things found in his car, which was vandalised and abandoned in Kilgoris, Transmara sub-county.
