Former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi graduates with degree in happiness

Former Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi on Thursday announced that he was adding a win to his academic qualifications after he successfully completed a one-year degree course in happiness studies from the Happiness Studies Academy.

In a statement accompanied by a photo of his certificate, Murungi noted that he was now equipped to spearhead happiness across Kenya.

“I am happy to announce that I successfully completed a one-year degree course in happiness studies from the Happiness Studies Academy and graduated. I am now fully equipped to spearhead the happiness revolution in my motherland,” he wrote.

Founded by ‘positive psychology expert’ Tal Ben-Shahar, the Happiness Studies Academy based in New York, USA focuses on leading the happiness revolution by educating leaders who are dedicated to personal, interpersonal, and communal flourishing.

“To realize our mission, we at HSA take a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to teaching happiness—first in the way we define happiness, and second in the way we teach it. We define happiness as the experience of whole-person wellbeing, or in short, the experience of whole-being,” a statement on the institution’s website reads in parts.

Congratulations were in order for the former county head as a section of his followers wished him good riddance as they congratulated him.

One James Kariuki wrote: “I didn’t know happiness can be studied. Congratulations sir”

Another user identified as Kirema Nkanata wrote: “Congratulations. I am also interested in similar studies. I wish you could start it here in our beloved country,”
