Ex-TV47 Reporter Franklin Wallah Joins Citizen TV On His Birthday

RMS Editorial Director Linus Kaikai on Thursday, July 25 introduced Wallah to the public for the first time, and in his role, he will be in charge of crime and investigative stories. 

Citizen TV has confirmed the entry of crime journalist Franklin Wallah, who joined the Royal Media Services (RMS) TV station as its Crime and Investigative stories Editor.

RMS Editorial Director Linus Kaikai on Thursday, July 25 introduced Wallah to the public for the first time, and in his role, he will be in charge of crime and investigative stories.

“Our latest signing; meet the Citizen TV Kenya Crime and Investigations Editor Franklin Wallah. We’ve got you covered,” Kaikai stated on his X account.

Wallah responded by acknowledging Kaikai as his new boss. The announcement came on the same day he turned a year older, to which he stated “Here we go…25th July, also a birthday. Thank you, boss.”

Prior to his new stint at Citizen TV, the renowned investigative journalist worked with TV47, under Cape Media Limited for just three months, having joined in May 2024 just weeks after leaving K24 TV on April 15.

At TV47, Wallah debuted his show Crimes Untold in May which aimed at debunking crimes which had been witnessed in the country. In his first show, he dove deep into the events that surrounded the heinous crime where Rita Waeni was murdered at TRM Drive in Roysambu, Nairobi.

His career as an investigative and crimes journalist began when he was at KBC in 2016 as a trainee. He then went to K24 in 2016 where he worked till 2019. From K24 in 2019 he went to KTN until 2021. 

In 2024 he made a come-back to the Mediamax Networks Limited TV station until his resignation in April. 

The journalist was the first to break the story as well as give a detailed CCTV expose’ on the murder of socialite Starlet Wahu who was found dead in an Airbnb in Nairobi, the start of high-profile femicide cases that were reported at the beginning of 2024. 

Other impactful stories done by Wallah include Teen Sex Parties, Mauaji ya Wambui, Yala Killings, Giza la Gaza and Kisirani Kisauni among others. He was also the producer of Jicho Langu.

Wallah joins the likes of Melita Ole Tenges, Emmanuel Too, Francis Odee, and Willy Lusige who all joined Citizen TV from rival media stations as it seeks to dominate the country’s mainstream media space backed with state-of-the-art technology to align with the demands of the digital space.
