Former Laikipia Women Representative Catherine Waruguru is among the biggest casualties of the landmark High Court ruling that declared the position of the Chief Adminstrative Secretary unconstitutional.

In the Monday ruling that could have far reaching ramifications, the High Court observed that President William Ruto erred in appointing the 50 CASs.

According to the Court, the position of CAS does not exist in the constitution and as such, the 50 holders of the position are in office illegally.

Waruguru, a battle-hardened Ruto soldier, is among the most influential female politicians in the country. Though she has been in the game for just a decade, but the former Laikipia Women Representative has made a name for herself.

In 2022, she ran for the Laikipia East MP seat but lost during the UDA party nominations. She would later pull out of the race. Nonetheless, she remained firmly behind the then DP Ruto’s State House bid.

After spending the first few months of the Ruto reign in the cold, Waruguru bounced back in style when the Head of State picked her for the Foreign Affairs CAS position. But now, her position has been declared null and void. What next for her?
