In his new role, Kipchoge will advocate for the use of sport to promote key values such as integrity, teamwork, and discipline, values which have been central to Kipchoge’s illustrious career, which saw him become the first human to complete a marathon in under two hours.
“I am deeply honoured and humbled to accept the role of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Sport, Integrity, and Values. This moment is not just a personal achievement, but a reflection of the power of sport to inspire, unite, and transform lives,” Kipchoge revealed on his social media pages.

“Sport has always been more than just competition; it’s a universal language that teaches us teamwork, self-discipline, and the importance of integrity. These values have shaped my journey as an athlete and continue to guide me in everything I do.”
Kipchoge went on to thank UNESCO for the incredible honour, expressing that he looks forward to working together to make a lasting difference, and to remind the world that truly, and in his signature phrase, “No Human is Limited”.
In his new role which he will hold for two years, Kipchoge will be collaborating with various stakeholders to empower young people through sports, while also advocating for the preservation of the environment.
Kipchoge will also continue to advocate causes close to his heart, especially education, through the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation. The Foundation is built on three pillars: Education, Sports, and Environmental Conservation.Â
The athlete is expected to give back to society by providing children with better access to education and nurturing future generations. Kipchoge aims to use the UNESCO ambassadorial role to advocate for policies and practices that promote sustainability.
Kipchoge’s educational focus goes beyond the normal building of schools to include creating environments where children can thrive, both academically and personally. The athlete hopes to resolve some of the root causes of poverty and inequality giving children the necessary tools they need to succeed in life.
This appointment is a testament to Kipchoge’s achievements on and off the track. As one of the greatest marathoners, Kipchoge has inspired millions of people around the world with perseverance, humility, and discipline.
