ODM’s Kisii County Senator Hon. Richard Onyonka and his counterpart Nyarinari Masaba Mp Hon. Daniel Manduku on Monday left tongues wagging after making a surprise appearance at UDA’s Grassroot Meeting in Kisii County.
The two ODM leaders were highly welcomed to the meeting by UDA leaders as they made their way into the venue. They were cheered by UDA delegates
“Our commitment is to build the biggest political party in the region. A movement that accommodates all like-minds; one which even the Abagusii community will proudly be part of. We welcome all the leaders who wish to walk with us on this journey and assure them that, unlike other parties, UDA will be their home; one where they will be listened to, accommodated, and respected” stated Hon Charles Matoke as he welcomed the two into their meeting
Leaders present included, UDA Treasurer, Hon. Japheth Nyakundi, Chief Whip, Hon. Sylvanus Osoro, Nominated Senator, Essy Okenyuri, Hon. Zaheer Jhanda, Hon. Alpha Miruka, Kisii Senator, Richard Onyonka, Nyaribari Masaba Mp, Hon Daniel Manduku, former Governor, Hon. James Ongwae, Senator Janet Ong’era, Hon. Duke Echate and several notable leaders from the region.
Onyonka was elected on an ODM party ticket, hence his presence at the UDA mass registration event has led to online speculations of a possible defection.
Dr. James Ongwae, former Woman Rep and also former Executive Director of ODM party Janet Ongera and Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka promised that they will never continue being held captives in their political outfits as they joined the meeting.
“Politics is about interests. I am here, in UDA, for the interests of my people from Kisii County. I am also here for the promotion of my President, William Ruto’s interests and agenda. It’s never personal.” stated hon Ongwae
“Siasa ni Soko huru na mtu hapaswi kushurutishwa kuegemea mrengo usioambatana na malengo yake ya siasa” stated Onyonka on his part
