The detectives revealed that the two suspects are on the run and are believed to have fled Kenya towards a neighbouring country where they are holed up.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives are actively pursuing two men, a father and an uncle, who were filmed in a viral clip assaulting a minor in their care.
According to a statement on Monday, November 11, the Bunyala Sub-County detectives are on the hunt for Edwin Ogolla and Denis Asabu, who are wanted for the assault of the minor as captured on the camera recording that has been widely shared on various social media outlets.
While presenting the minor at Port Victoria Police Station, children’s officers informed the police that the heart-wrenching incident took place three months ago at the minor’s home located in the Musoma area on the Kenya-Tanzanian border.

“During the incident, the minor’s uncle, namely Edwin Ogolla, was captured on camera while manhandling him as his father recorded the happenings without an iota of guilt.
“The minor suffered serious injuries that are still healing due to a lack of immediate medical attention,” stated DCI in part.
When the incident came to light, the children’s officers took the minor to the hospital where he was treated and the medical form (P3) filled out.
“Further, detectives in Bunyala recorded witness statements and launched hot pursuit for the two ruffians,” added the DCI.
The detectives revealed that the two suspects are on the run and are believed to have fled Kenya towards a neighbouring country where they are holed up.
However, DCI assured that pragmatic measures are underway to flush them out and bring them to justice.
The circumstances that led to the savage assault were yet to be made public. However, it is expected that once the two suspects are arrested, they will be arraigned in a court of law for violating the child’s rights and inflicting psychological and physical harm to the minor.
This is just one of the incidences of child abuse that occur within many homes which often go unreported.
With the Kenyan government being a signatory to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, the government is keen to ensure that children’s rights are protected from all forms of violence, including sexual and physical assault.
