The senator’s remarks have added to the ongoing political discussions in Kenya surrounding the possibility of a handshake agreement between Raila and Ruto, as pressure from the International Community mounts.

Cherargei, flanked by other Kenya Kwanza-affiliated MPs, emphasized that no matter the circumstances, a handshake agreement would not materialize. He even speculated that such an event might only occur when the second coming of Jesus, as prophesied in the Bible, is fulfilled.

During his address, the senator also took the opportunity to express his appreciation for the diligent efforts of the police officers in maintaining law and order. He commended them for their bravery in facing various challenges, including handling stone throwers, combating internal terrorists, and countering economic saboteurs carrying out violent demonstrations.

Moreover, Cherargei passionately advocated for the recognition of the police officers’ dedication and sacrifice by suggesting they be awarded a risk allowance. He emphasized that these officers often put their lives on the line to protect the country’s citizens and ensure public safety during turbulent times.

As the country grapples with complex issues, such as governance, inclusivity, and political stability, the rejection of a power-sharing handshake deal has emerged as a crucial point of contention.
