Biden, Harris Vow to Continue Fight Against Racial Inequities

President Joe Biden together with his vice president, Harris have vowed to continue fighting against racial inequities. In a Twitter post on 28th, August 2023, US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris said that they are committed to continuing the fight against racial inequities and systemic racism.

“Together, @VP Harris and I have made it clear that the moment has arrived to face the deep racial inequities and systemic racism that has plagued our nation for too long,” Biden wrote. “We’re going to keep building on that momentum.” Read the statement.

The president’s comments come amid a renewed focus on racial justice in the United States following Jacksonville shooting in Florida. This led to the death of three people. The Black Lives Matter movement has since brought attention to the long history of racial discrimination in the US, and many are calling for concrete action to address these issues.

Biden has made racial justice a top priority of his administration. In his first 100 days in office, he signed an executive order on police reform, created a task force on advancing racial equity, and appointed a diverse cabinet. He has also called on Congress to pass legislation that would address racial disparities in housing, education, and healthcare.

Harris, who is the first Black woman to serve as vice president, has also spoken out about the importance of racial justice. In a speech last year, she said that “we cannot afford to wait any longer” to address the “systemic racism that has been allowed to fester for too long.”

The Biden-Harris administration’s focus on racial justice is a welcome development for many Americans who have long been calling for change. However, there is still much work to be done. The president and vice president will need to continue to push for progress on this issue, and they will need to work with Congress to pass legislation that will make a real difference in the lives of Black Americans.
