Bahati reunites with his foster daughters

Kenyan musician Kevin Kioko, widely known as Bahati, has reunited with two girls from a children’s home whom he had once adopted alongside their son, Morgan.

In a video posted on his wife Diana Bahati’s YouTube channel on Monday, September 16, 2024, Bahati explained why he was unable to live with Rose and Purity the way he does with Morgan.

The musician stated that despite his deep desire to adopt the two girls, he was unable due to his young age and also legal limitations prevented him from doing so. He further revealed that he had formed a bond with his foster daughters during his early years when he was also fathering Morgan.

“When I started fathering Morgan I took him with two other girls Rose and Purity they were very young and at that time just to be sincere I was still young legally, I had just started music and I was also struggling, hustling and trying to make ends meet. Legally, I did not fit in the criteria the government requires before adopting kids especially when they are girls,” Bahati narrated.

Having not met the legal requirements, the father of five elucidated that he had to make a heart-rending decision of returning the two foster girls to the children’s home and chose to stay with Morgan.

“But at one point I had to make the hardest decision of my life. This one hurt me the most. It was a tricky situation. I am not guarded by law as much as I wanted to help them. There was no way I could live with these two girls in my house. In a heartbreaking decision, I chose to stay with Morgan and returned the two girls to the children’s home,” he explained.

Supporting the girls

Bahati went on to say that despite not being able to adopt the girls, he continued to support them in any way he could over the years.

However, the emotional reunion that occurred in their mansion marked the first time they had come together as a family in many years.

“Ever since, I have been supporting where I can but we have never come together to just know how they are doing. Today Rose and Purity have visited us and I know they have gone through a tough life and we will tell you more… I am so proud of this moment,” Bahati said.
