Bad News To EPRA Directors As 2 Azimio Lawyers File A Case Against Them In Court, Reason Revealed

President Ruto’s Finance Bill that was recently signed into law has received another Blow as Dan Maanzo and Otiende Amollo join the challengers of the Bill.

The two will be representing interested parties that have joined Okiya Omtatah in rejecting the Finance Act on the ground that it did not follow the constitution.

Maanzo argues that the Finance Bill had key proposals that required approvals from the Senate. The Senator went ahead and stated that many interested parties have filed petitions in court to challenge the Finance Act implementation despite its suspension by the Court until the case challenging its legality is heard on 5, July.

“The new Finance Bill that was signed into law by the President was corrected by the court through a petition filed by Okiya Omtatah. The Bill was suspended from taking its course until the case is heard on the 5th of this month,” Maanzo stated.

“We are saying that the Finance Bill is unconstitutional. It was not passed through the Senate. There are many proposals in the Bill that needed Senate scrutiny before it was signed by the President. After the Bill was signed into law many Kenyans and other interested parties joined Okiya Omtatah in rejecting it,” said Maanzo

“I am representing some interested parties while Otiende Amollo will be representing other parties and we will be in court on the 5th to challenge the Bill. We will challenge the proposal to increase fuel VAT,” he added.

In what seems bad news to EPRA, the Senator who is a lawyer by profession said that they will take the directors of the body to court after their move to increase fuel prices despite a court order barring them from doing so.

“We will also take EPRA directors to court for going against the court order that suspended the implementation of the Finance Bill 2023,”
