Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition legal advisor Paul Mwangi on 2nd June afternoon resurfaced online with a bold message alleging oil companies which might be collecting money illegally.
Speaking via his official twitter handle, Mwangi claimed Okiya Omtatah is heading to court to challenge EPRA decision of defying court’s order on fuel prices.
Despite the order, Mwangi has noticed that oil companies like Total, Shell and Rubis are still charging kenyans higher prices for fuel despite Justice Thande’s directive not to do so pending the hearing of Okiya Omtatah’s petition.
” As Omtata goes to court to find EPRA in contempt for increasing fuel prices, oil companies @TotalEnergies_KE @Shell_Kenya @RUBiSKenya_ should know that they are collecting money illegally as no such tax increases exists at the moment. Count on a class action suit for refunds”, he wrote.
According to Mwangi, increase that have been by shell and Rubis do not exist and therefore they should be ready to make refunds.
His statement comes off following outcry from kenyans who are against Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority ( EPRA) decision of defying court’s order.
It should be noted that super petrol now retails at ksh 196 in Nairobi with diesel and kerosene now going at between ksh 170 to 182.
Lastly in your opinion, are you in agreement with Paul Mwangi that oil companies are collecting illegal money from kenyans?
