This was confirmed by Government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor, who conducted the post-mortem

An autopsy conducted on the body of Victoria Mumbua Muloki, a Mombasa-based taxi driver, on Wednesday, October 9 revealed that she was repeatedly struck by a blunt object before being strangled to death.

This was confirmed by Government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor, who conducted the post-mortem, and also revealed that the body had physical injuries, implying that the killer was intent on finishing the job.

The mother of three, per the injuries, did not go down without a fight. Oduor added that further tests were being conducted on additional samples, which are crucial for investigators to decipher the crime.

As Mumbua’s family awaits comprehensive results, homicide detectives continue to meticulously investigate the murder, and plan to revisit all crime scenes to gather CCTV footage and forensically link the prime suspect to the locations.

Edwin Ng’etich, who was arrested in connection to the murder, confessed to killing Mumbua. In his confession, he told police that on September 27, while in Mombasa, he requested a ride from Victoria. Midway through the journey, he attacked her, assaulted her multiple times, and tied her to the back seat of the car.

He then took control of the vehicle and drove towards Nairobi. While passing through Kibwezi, the woman pleaded for her release. He stopped the car, strangled her to death, and continued driving with her body.

Ng’etich eventually drove to Mai Mahiu and dumped her body in a thicket near Lari, Kiambu County. After disposing of the victim’s body, he drove her car to Nakuru, where he was arrested and detained.

His confession is forming the basis of investigations in a bid to connect him to his criminal past, with new details turning up.

Ng’etich had led detectives to various locations, including Mt. Elgon, Butere, Uasin Gishu, and Nakuru, where police have recovered five motor vehicles.

It is believed he abducted the owners of these vehicles before stealing their cars. In July 2014, he was alleged to have abducted and killed taxi driver George Njuguna.

Additionally, Ng’etich faces two murder charges and two robbery with violence charges involving taxi drivers.

Police suspected that after abducting his victims, he would use their motor vehicles to transport drugs or refugees as part of a human trafficking syndicate.
