Role Overview
The Programme Policy Officer will coordinate activities under WFP Kenya’s Changing Lives Transformation Fund (CLTF), supporting vulnerable communities in Turkana, Garissa, and other ASAL counties. The goal is to transition these populations from humanitarian aid to resilience and self-reliance through innovative programs that integrate social protection and economic empowerment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with UN and government partners on strategies for transitioning vulnerable populations to resilience.
- Lead community engagement, beneficiary mapping, and targeting processes for assistance programs.
- Support development of productive safety nets and tailored assistance packages (e.g., Cash Plus).
- Advocate for policy reforms to strengthen social protection frameworks.
- Monitor program impact, capture evidence, and contribute to WFP’s learning agenda.
- Represent WFP in technical committees and engage stakeholders for effective coordination.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in International Affairs, Economics, Agriculture, Social Sciences, or related fields.
Experience:
- Proven track record in humanitarian and development assistance, social protection, and resilience programs.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy skills.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in program management and knowledge sharing.
- Fluency in English (written and oral).
