Role Overview

This consultancy role supports the Joint UNHCR-WFP Programme Excellence and Targeting Hub in enhancing collaboration between WFP and UNHCR. The Joint Hub focuses on joint programming, targeting practices, and promoting self-reliance for refugees and vulnerable communities. The Advisor will provide strategic, operational, and technical support to priority countries, with dedicated coordination for Kenya’s WFP and UNHCR offices.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Coordination & Liaison:

  • Strengthen collaboration between Regional Bureaus (RBs), Country Offices (COs), and the Joint Hub in key technical and strategic areas.
  • Provide advisory support to priority countries and Kenya’s COs.

Communication:

  • Ensure effective information-sharing and coordination between stakeholders at regional and country levels.
  • Support advocacy efforts and external briefings as needed.

Learning & Documentation:

  • Generate evidence, document lessons, and develop knowledge products to scale good practices.
  • Coordinate Hub expert missions and technical support activities.

Deliverables:

  • Strengthened partnerships between WFP, UNHCR, and other stakeholders.
  • Effective information-sharing platforms at regional and country levels.
  • Enhanced documentation of program impacts and learning outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Master’s degree in International Development, Public Policy, Business Management, or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant professional experience may also be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in coordinating UN operational partnerships.
  • Experience in humanitarian-development programming, particularly in refugee and displacement contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, coordination, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Proficiency in developing and presenting evidence-based reports.
  • Willingness to travel extensively for in-country support.

Languages:

  • Fluent in English (proficiency/level C).
