The position is located in the UNODC Regional Office for Eastern Africa (ROEA), Division for Operations (DO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The incumbent will work under the general guidance of the UNODC ROEA Regional Representative and the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer heading the Transnational Organized Crime, Illicit Trafficking and Terrorism Programme for Eastern Africa, as well as the substantive technical and policy guidance of the ROEA Procurement Officer and the Chief, Procurement Unit (PU), General Support Section (GSS), Division for Management (DM) at Vienna headquarters. Responsibilities
Competencies
Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in supply chain management, procurement, business administration, commerce, engineering, law or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supplies (CIPS) professional certification or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification

Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, contract management, Engineering or related area is required.
Experience in managing large procurement cases for goods and services in a large international organization is desirable. One (1) year experience supervising a procurement team is desirable.
Experience working with a Systems Application and Products (SAP) system or another Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is desirable. Work experience within the United Nations system or similar international organization is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.

Candidates for the National Professional Officer category shall be of the nationality of the country where this position is located.
This is a project post. Filling of this position is subject to funding availability and the initial appointment will be for a period of one year. Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of the funds.
