Job Summary

Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations (CAIR) Department is responsible for membership expansion, equity raising from institutional investors, establishing, and managing strategic partners as well as enhancing the Bank’s brand through marketing and communication activities.

Reporting to the Group Executive, Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations, and Group Managing Director, the Technical Advisor, Partnerships role is primarily responsible for fundraising and providing technical advice and insigths on multilateral, member countries’ economic and political influences and guiding the overall implementation of Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations fundraising strategy.

Responsibilities

The Technical Advisor, Partnerships performs the following duties:

  • Support in the concessional fundraising initiative of the TDB Group.
  • Provide strategic advisory support to strengthen the TDB Group.
  • Provide guidance to TDB Group with establishing key strategic funding partner relationships targeting a wide variety of donor/funding partner groups including institutional investors, corporations, foundations, etc.
  • Together with GMD and CAIR Group Executive, arrange bilateral meetings with target member countries, DFI’s, and institutional investors in Europe, the US, Asia as guided by TDB Board of Governors.
  • Develop concept notes, and background papers highlighting key challenges with respect to member states’ development priorities and countries’ needs.
  • Facilitate consultative meetings with key institutional investors to highlight TDB investment priorities as aligned to the current corporate plan.
  • Together with CAIR portfolio leads, coordinate and identify networking opportunities during TDB Group strategic conferences/events.
  • Advise on potential funding global trends, patterns, and platforms to attract new equity funding for all class share portfolios.
  • Support in maintaining good and consistent working relationships with existing fund partners/shareholders and explore new opportunities for continued support and investment to TDB Group investments.
  • Together with the GMD and CAIR Group Executive, attend Global donor/funding partner summits and represent the Group in key economic summits such as G20, Annual United Nations Climate Change Conference, etc.
  • Prepare memos, talking points, and speeches for the TDB Group MD in donor/fund partner-related events and meetings.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • A master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Banking, Finance, or Economics with relevant professional qualifications as added advantage. 
  • A track record of success in building donor/fund partner relationships and networks with international/multilateral organisations.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience and proven track record in a commercial/financial/advisory institution and/or public sector financial/investment with at least 8 years experience in strategic advisory support in a development finance organization.
  • Excellent knowledge of the donor/fund partner environment and of current donor/funding trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Fluency in English is a requirment and Knowledge of TDB Group’s other working language (French or Portuguese) would be an added advantage.
