Role Summary
The Senior Advisor, Trade Finance Fund Management supports TDB Group and its fund management company in crafting its strategies and initiatives, strengthening capacities to build a robust deal pipeline and support sustainable asset growth.
The Senior Advisor will leverage their global expertise to fortify and deepen the capabilities and reach of the trade finance fund management company. The role is part-time.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Review the existing strategy, identify gaps and opportunities to enable the sustainable growth of ESATAL managed trade finance funds as unique short-term investment vehicles that help bridge the large trade financing gaps in the region.
- Develop a strategic roadmap for the strengthening of the ESATAL institutional framework, with specialized operational manuals and procedures, in alignment with TDB Group’s overall goals.
- Provide high-level guidance to the management team in deal sourcing and fundraising activities, drawing on strong industry experience and networks from alternative ecosystems outside of the operating region of TDB Group.
- Coach and mentor the fund management team, in the areas of best practices, lessons and pitfalls in the industry and training plans.
Qualifications and Competencies
- A master’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or similar, relevant qualifications.
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in trade finance, with particular experience in relevant development finance institutions, with extensive networks and reach in international financial centers where much African financing business is undertaken and where TDB Group has no presence.
- Deep understanding of the trade finance asset class and related asset/funds management.
- Strong interest in African development.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, manage dynamic priorities, strong professional independence, unquestionable integrity.
- A senior executive with excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills and client orientation/client centricity.
Reporting and Duty Station
The Senior Advisor will report to the Managing Director of ESATAL and work closely with the Executive Directors and management team.
The working modality will be mainly remote, with frequent virtual meetings and business trips to TDB Offices, notably Ebene, Mauritius, as well as to conferences and events.
