Job Title: Physical and Personnel Security Manager

Location: Safaricom House, Waiyaki Way, Westlands, P.O Box 66827, 00800, KE

Reporting To: Senior Manager – Security


Job Summary:

The Physical and Personnel Security Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effective management and delivery of all physical, electronic, and personnel security requirements across the company’s facilities and regional staff. This role includes supervising and coordinating security measures, conducting security audits, and managing network security operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Security Management:
    • Design & Planning: Develop and implement security strategies including access control, perimeter security, surveillance systems, and physical guarding.
    • Implementation & Monitoring: Oversee security operations, manage back-up response, security escorts, and event security.
    • Security Audits: Conduct security sweeps, penetration tests, and intruder detection tests. Perform regular security surveys and internal audits.
  2. Network Security Operations:
    • Manage special security operations during network upgrades, equipment swaps, and road-side rescues.
    • Ensure effective security guarding and investigations for network infrastructure.
  3. Advisory Support:
    • Provide security and safety advice across business units.
    • Investigate and resolve security issues affecting company assets, staff, and documents.
    • Liaise with law enforcement agencies and assist staff in resolving security-related matters.
  4. Training and Awareness:
    • Coordinate bi-annual security awareness briefs with contracted Security Risk Management Consultants.
    • Sensitize regional staff on security trends and personal security awareness.
  5. Policy and Budget Management:
    • Develop, review, and implement security policies, processes, and procedures.
    • Document service level agreements (SLAs) with security service providers.
    • Formulate and manage budgets and forecasts for security-related services and projects.
  6. Personnel Management:
    • Direct and manage security personnel seconded by contractors.
    • Work closely with the Health & Safety Manager on related issues.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management/Administration or a relevant technical/business discipline.
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years in military or police service, ideally at the rank of Major (Military) or Senior Superintendent (Police).
    • Minimum 2 years in corporate security management within a large corporate firm.
  • Knowledge:
    • General understanding of Kenyan laws and government regulations related to law enforcement.
