Brief Description
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer the position holder will be responsible for;
- Preparation and publishing of the statutory accounts and filing them with the relevant regulatory authorities. This will entail putting in place strong accounting and reporting throughout the group, including overseeing, and monitoring an effective control and compliance environment and providing strategic information and advice to the management team and Safaricom Ethiopia Board
- Preparing month-end reports for management, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, treasury forecasts, cost analysis reports as well as making recommendations for spending or cost cuts.
- Involved in business transactions or acquisitions sharing the key input on statutory, funding and accounting treatment considerations to name a few.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with the Managing Directors and executive teams of all subsidiary company.
- Help translate Safaricom Ethiopia PLC strategy and set the agenda for execution in the subsidiary company.
- Act as the International Management Team lead/expert for the financial review and strategic planning cycles of the subsidiary company.
- Lead the Safaricom Ethiopia Financial Controlling team to ensure that effective Financial processes and controls are implemented.
- Ensure that monthly and annual results are prepared to a high level of integrity and that variances to expectations are adequately explained.
- Present interim and year end results to internal and external audiences
- Act as key member of large project steering committees.
- Strategic Cash flow forecasting and management by utilizing various models to forecast the treasury requirements and options to enable insights driven decision making in the plans of the business.
- Work with centers of excellence and with shared services function in the evolving matrix structure to ensure Safaricom Ethiopia finance function operates in line with best practice.
- Ensure production of high quality commercially driven forecasts and plans for treasury
- Oversee preparation of Safaricom Ethiopia statutory accounts and consolidation into group Annual Financial statements.
- Prepare the Board packs for the Board audit committee and Risk committee meetings and general Board meetings.
- Oversee all compliance issues including SOX compliance.
- Oversee financial aspects of Safaricom including managing stakeholder relationships.
- Liaise with auditors as required in preparation of interim and annual reports.
- Define clear and optimal Finance Controlling structure for the organization taking note of spans, layers and future business evolution.
- Attract, retain and develop staff into the section with a view of building credible succession bench strength in the and across the wider Finance organization.
- Align and advocate to the team, division and all staff the Spirit of Safaricom Ethiopia behaviors.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- Relevant Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance
- CPA (K) or equivalent or post graduate qualification.
- 15 years of broad, progressive experience in all facets of Finance i.e. Management Accounting, Forecasting and Planning, Financial Accounting, and Finance Operations.
- Expert proficiency in more than two areas of finance e.g. Management Accounting, Forecasting and Planning, Financial Accounting, and Audit

Qualifications
- A minimum of bachelor’s degree in electrical & electronics, Engineering, Telecommunication, Computer, IT or related field.
- Should have demonstratable at least 2yrs experience working in energy system in telecommunication environment.
- Should demonstrate expertise IT/computer Literacy.
- Should demonstrate proficiency in Data analytical tools and presentation skills.
- Knowledge and accreditation in Data Center and Energy Management systems including, CEM/CMVP and DCIM is an added advantage.
- Working knowledge and accreditation in electrical or solar systems installation and commissioning such as T1/T2 or T3.
