Designation: Radio Presenter and Continuity Announcer – Muuga FM

Qualification: Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or another related field from a recognized university.

Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a presenter, newsreader, or reporter in a reputable radio station.

Position Overview: Muuga FM is seeking to fill the position of a Radio Presenter and Continuity Announcer. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the station maintains its high standards of broadcasting. If you believe you have the required skills and experience, we encourage you to apply.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, planning, and developing on-air content that aligns with the station’s strategy and values. This includes generating innovative ideas and concepts that engage and entertain listeners. The role requires an individual who can not only present and maintain on-air continuity but also act on feedback from listeners to continually improve the content and delivery.

In addition to on-air duties, the candidate will be required to write broadcasting reports and execute commercial logs accurately. Music research is another critical aspect of the job; the presenter will need to identify and propose music that enhances the station’s sound. This involves staying updated with current music trends and understanding what appeals to the station’s audience.

The role also involves representing the station at outside broadcasts and roadshows, as well as attending functions on behalf of Muuga FM. This requires a dynamic personality who can engage with the public and enhance the station’s presence at these events. Furthermore, the candidate will receive briefs from clients, marketers, and supervisors and execute these tasks effectively.

Additional Responsibilities

The Radio Presenter and Continuity Announcer will script, record, package, and produce various station features, ensuring high-quality content is consistently delivered. Creativity in creating and executing on-air gaming elements is also essential, as these segments play a significant role in engaging listeners.

Hosting sports shows is another key responsibility. The presenter must maintain close and effective contact with sports news sources, generate compelling ideas for sports stories, and ensure accurate and timely sports coverage. This includes cross-promoting the company’s online and traditional product lines to enhance the station’s overall reach and engagement.

Digital and Social Media Management

The successful candidate will conceptualize and execute online campaigns for various projects, ensuring all social media platforms are updated regularly with engaging content. Staying abreast of new trends in online tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy is crucial to maintaining a strong online presence. The presenter must advise supervisors on these new trends to keep the station’s digital strategies current and effective.

Skills and Personal Attributes

Fluency in spoken and written Ameru, English, and Swahili is essential. The candidate must possess a radio voice and personality that captivates listeners. An ear for music and the ability to work odd hours, including weekends and holidays, without supervision, is required. Social media savviness, innovation, and creativity are also critical for this role.

The candidate must have a solid understanding of media law and ethics and demonstrate a professional approach and appearance. Attributes such as enthusiasm, drive, commitment, honesty, trust, and loyalty are highly valued. Continuously keeping up with evolving trends through professional education, particularly in digital platforms, is essential for success in this role.

Academic and Professional Experience
