Position Overview
Job Title: Resident Radiologist
Reports To: Medical Director
Location: Mombasa, Nyali Area
Closing Date: 31st December 2024
The Resident Radiologist will be responsible for executing and interpreting medical images, such as X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, and MRIs, to diagnose and treat patients effectively. Key Responsibilities
1. Image Interpretation
- Review and interpret medical images from X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and ultrasounds.
- Provide accurate diagnoses and prepare detailed reports based on imaging results.
- Communicate findings to referring physicians and guide them on treatment or further imaging if necessary.
2. Patient Care
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures.
- Explain imaging procedures to patients and address their questions or concerns.
- Review patients’ medical histories and collaborate with specialists to determine appropriate imaging studies.
3. Imaging Techniques and Procedures
- Perform image-guided procedures, such as biopsies and injections.
- Oversee image quality and guide technologists for optimal results.
- Assess the need for additional imaging if initial results are inconclusive.
4. Collaboration
- Work closely with oncologists, surgeons, and other physicians to provide a comprehensive diagnosis.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions.
- Collaborate with radiologic technologists to ensure effective and safe imaging practices.
5. Technology and Equipment
- Stay updated on advancements in medical imaging technology.
- Ensure all imaging equipment functions properly and meets safety standards.
- Maintain and enforce radiation safety protocols and guidelines.
6. Documentation
- Prepare detailed reports for inclusion in patients’ medical records.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient imaging and procedures performed.
7. Continuous Education
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay updated on the latest radiology research.
- Conduct training and continuous professional development sessions for radiology staff.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
- Master of Medicine in Radiology (MMED Radiology) from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBCHB) from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
- Specialist Recognition Certificate.
- Valid practicing license and professional indemnity coverage.
- Minimum of two (2) years post-master’s experience in a busy hospital.
