Job Title: Policy & Advocacy Advisor, Children’s Rights in the Digital Environment

Organization: Save the Children International

Location: SC Europe office, Brussels, Belgium (subject to successful grant application)

Role Purpose: Save the Children International is seeking a Policy & Advocacy Advisor to lead efforts in protecting children’s rights in the digital environment. The role involves advocating for children’s rights in the context of current EU regulations, specifically the Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) regulation and the CSA directive. The advisor will also coordinate with Save the Children members and build capacity to influence decision-makers, both at the EU and national levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead advocacy efforts on the CSA regulation and CSA directive.
  • Coordinate messaging with Save the Children members and support their capacity to influence national decision-makers.
  • Identify and map out opportunities to influence EU policies.
  • Implement the SC European advocacy strategy on children’s rights online.
  • Connect SC members with EU decision-makers and support global advocacy coordination.

Reporting Structure:

  • Primary reporting: SC Europe office
  • Dotted line reporting: Head of Policy and Advocacy, Child Protection, SCI PAC Department
  • Co-lead: Internal Global Digital Advocacy Working Group

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrable advocacy experience in child rights, protection, and online protection.
  • Knowledge of EU policies on children’s rights in the digital environment.
  • Established networks and ability to manage diverse professional relationships.
  • Proven advocacy track record with effective communication skills tailored to different audiences.
  • Experience in an international environment with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to solve complex issues through analysis and stakeholder buy-in.
  • Commitment to Save the Children’s values.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Desirable Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in preventing and combating child sexual abuse (e.g., training, campaigns, support).
  • Knowledge of child participation and/or child-led advocacy.
  • Ability to speak and write in French.

Compensation:

  • Approximately €60,267 per annum (National Terms & Conditions will apply).
