Job Summary
To continuously provide counseling services to patients undergoing surgical procedures, facing end of life issues or involved in traumatic accidents. The jobholder will also offer comfort and support to patients ‘families. May be called on by hospital staff to calm angry or emotionally distraught friends and family members of patients. Assistant Chaplain may conduct religious services in the hospital chapel, including officiating at memorial services and weddings. In some cases, a hospital Vice-Chaplain will provide spiritual support to fellow staff members and care providers.
- Provide pastoral care in form of word, prayer, encouragement and counselling to patients, relatives, care-givers and visitors.
- Participate, lead and conduct various programed worship service or as need may arise in the hospital.
- Carry out administrative duties related to the Chaplaincy.
- Assisting the Chaplain in undertaking various capacity building interventions for the Hospital staff; Volunteer Evangelists and Volunteer Community Pastoral Visitors.
- Preparing the preaching Rota for the various worship services both at the Chapel and the Department.
- Coordinate worship services at the Chapel and the hospital departments.
- Any other assignment allocated by the supervisor.
Essential Qualifications
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Theology from a recognized university.
- Training in Chaplaincy or Clinical Pastoral Education
- Communicant member of PCEA in good standing.
- At least 2 years post-qualification Chaplaincy related experience.
- Letter from the Parish Minister.
