Job Description:
As a Treasury Dealer at Faulu MFB, you will be an integral part of the Treasury and Finance Unit, focusing on implementing effective treasury operations, financial planning, and reporting as directed by the Treasury Manager and Senior Dealer.
Key Measurable Goals:
- Enhance money market placements to maximize yield.
- Generate interest income through trading activities.
- Optimize income by engaging in bond trading effectively.
- Actively cross-sell all other bank products.
- Improve client satisfaction ratings based on surveys and feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
Dealing Activities:
- Inventory Management: Manage the dealer’s inventory of money market securities to ensure liquidity and profitability.
- Market Analysis: Monitor market trends and analyze economic indicators to identify trading opportunities.
- Risk Management: Mitigate risks associated with trading activities, including interest rate, currency, and credit risk.
- Pricing: Assist in determining the fair value of financial instruments.
Operational Tasks:
- Trade Confirmation: Ensure trade confirmations are accurate and timely.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
- Reporting: Prepare reports on trading activities and performance.
- Compliance: Adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Customer Service:
- Client Interaction: Provide support to clients, including answering inquiries and assisting with transactions.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with clients to foster loyalty and business growth.
Learning and Development:
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on market developments, financial instruments, and risk management techniques.
- Professional Development: Seek opportunities for growth and advancement within the treasury department.
Supervision and Relationships:
Staff Reporting Directly to the Job Holder:
- None
Internal Relationships:
- All Business Units for pricing and cross-selling opportunities.
- Senior Manager, Treasury for any delegated duties.
External Relationships:
- Competitors/Other Leading Institutions
- Service Providers
- Professional Bodies (e.g., ACI)
Nature or Purpose:
- Market Intelligence: Keep up with developments in the banking industry.
- Provision and service of the tools of our trade.
- Financial Markets Association of Kenya.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
- ACI certified.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong technical understanding of accounting principles and their application.
- Good understanding of micro and macroeconomics to interpret currency and interest rate trends.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
- Negotiation and decision-making skills with the ability to meet targets and deadlines.
- Understanding of CBK and banking prudential guidelines and their implications.
Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience in commercial financial treasury, cash management, financial analysis, or related management roles.
Personal Attributes:
- Knowledge of foreign exchange and money market products.
- Understanding of risk management, including operational, market, counterparty, and credit risks.
- Ideal background in treasury and banking.
