Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the following position:
Position: State Counsel (CSG 9)
Vacancy No: 3/2024
Number of Posts: Seventy-Eight (78)
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
(a) Salary and Other Benefits:
- Basic Salary: Ksh 46,120 x 1,920 – 48,040 x 2,000 – 50,040 x 2,290 – 52,330 x 2,350 – 54,680 x 2,550 – 57,230 x 2,850 – 60,080 x 2,850 – 62,930 x 2,930 – 65,860 per month.
- Allowances:
- Commuter Allowance: Ksh 6,000 per month
- House Allowance: As per region deployed
- Leave Allowance: Ksh 6,000 per annum
- Leave Entitlement: 30 working days per annum
(b) Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is the entry and training grade for this cadre, with the State Counsel working under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities may involve deployment to any of the technical divisions, which include:
- Civil Litigation
- Legislative Drafting
- Justice and Constitutional Affairs
- Public Legal Services
- Government Legal Services
- Advocates Complaints Commission
- Regional Offices
(c) Requirements:
To qualify for appointment to the grade of State Counsel (CSG 9), candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Academic Qualification: Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from a recognized institution.
- Professional Training: Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
- Professional Admission: Must be admitted as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
- Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications.
