The Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) is an indigenous non-profit community conservancy membership organisation. Its mission is to develop resilient community conservancies that transform lives, secure peace, and conserve natural resources.

NRT currently supports 45 community conservancies across Kenya in 10 counties (Marsabit, Laikipia, Isiolo, Meru, Baringo, Samburu, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu and West Pokot counties) and Uganda.

1. Marine Programme Coordinator

The Marine Program Coordinator (MPC) will support implementation of NRT Marine Strategy with focus on development/designing, coordination, and implementation of marine science and coastal conservation programs.

The Marine Program Coordinator (MPC) will be reporting to NRT-Coast Regional Director and providing oversight to all marine program officers while also working very closely with NRT Marine Strategy key partners including The Nature Conservancy, Fauna & Flora International, County Governments, relevant national government agencies and other key partners.

2. Regional Rangelands Coordinator – NRT West region

The Regional Rangelands Coordinator will be responsible for implementing planned grazing management and integrating traditional knowledge of grazing governance into the conservancy model. We are looking for a dedicated person with a minimum training degree in rangelands management or any other relevant area, and experience working with communities on grazing management.

3. Rangelands Program Education Assistant (1 position) – NRT Mountain & NRT Centre regions

The Rangelands Program Education Assistant will be responsible for implementing cartoon programs in NRT Mountain and NRT Centre conservancies. The team will be camping for 2-3 weeks in remote villages, tracking herders, and engaging them on the grazing plans and conservancy projects. These are dedicated teams with camping plans, multi-lingual advantages, and highly mobile, mimicking herders’ mobility.

4. Rangelands Program Education Assistants (2 positions) – NRT West region

The Rangelands Program Education Assistant will be responsible for implementing cartoon programs in Kaptuiya, Ruko, Masol, and Pellow conservancies. The team will be camping for 2-3 weeks in remote villages, tracking herders, and engaging them on the grazing plans and conservancy projects. These are dedicated teams with camping plans, multi-lingual (covering Pokot, Chamus) advantages, and highly mobile, mimicking herders’ mobility.

5. Drivers

Reporting to the Senior Fleet Management Officer, the drivers will be required to have the overall responsibility of offering both administrative and logistic support to Northern Rangeland Trust and help in achieving set target and objectives.
