Consultancy Service for Restoration Opportunities Assessment (ROAM) in the Mangrove forest within the project area in Northern Kilifi County

Background

Nature Kenya—the East Africa Natural History Society (EANHS)—is Africa’s oldest environmental Society, established in 1909 to promote the study and conservation of nature in eastern Africa. Nature Kenya is part of a consortium of organizations in three Countries of the Western Indian Ocean Region implementing a project title ‘Sustainable use of mangroves in the Western Indian Ocean Region’

Nature Kenya is seeking to recruit national consultant to apply the ROAM tool to assess the restoration opportunities of mangrove forests within the project areas in northern Kilifi County.

Assignment Objective

Restoration Opportunity Assessment (ROAM) for Mangrove Forest of Northern Kilifi County

Expected Duration: 25 days

Consultant Qualification

The national  Consultant will be hired over a period of 25 days and should have the following: An advanced university degree in environmental sciences. Technical and practical evidence and  knowledge of application of Restoration Oppurtunity Assessment Methodology (ROAM) tool. Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in managing national natural resources projects, in particular, concerning biodiversity, natural resources management, protected area management, environmental information management, and capacity building is highly desirable. For this consultancy, fluency in oral and written English is a requirement and proficiency language skills in oral and written Swahili is desirable. Read task description here.

Assignment Objective

Socio-Economic Survey of Mangrove Forest adjacent communities in Northern Kilifi County

 Expected Duration: 40 Days

Consultant Qualification

The national  Consultant will be hired over a period of 40 days and should have the following: An advanced university degree in social sciences, environmental sciences, sustainable development or equivalent. At least 5 years’ experience in carrying out similar socioeconomic studies or in local development; Experience and knowledge of the study environment; Have good knowledge and analytical skills of the NBEs value chain. For this consultancy, fluency in oral and written English is a requirement and proficiency language skills in oral and written Swahili is desirable. Read task description here.
