Mpesa Foundation Academy Hiring Part-Time Hockey Coach

Overall role purpose: 

The specialized coach provides coaching to students on various sports

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a hockey training strategy for performance development.
• Plan, prepare and deliver individual and team training sessions and activities.
• Conduct at least four (4) training sessions per week.
• Identify, develop and expose talented players, in order to maximise their potential.
• Supervise players and ensure that players are provided with a safe, enjoyable and player focused training environment.
• Educate players in the ethos of their respective sport and the values of being a true sportsman.
• Ensure players get equal opportunities to take part in sports activities.
• Set the right examples for players, both on and off the field.
• Maintain an up-to-date record of students participating in training sessions and activities.
• Record and report any injuries, accidents, incidents and suspicions or disclosures of abuse.
• Maintain and keep up-to-date inventories of assigned sports equipment.
• Review the programme at the end of every term and submit a progress report.
• Attend scheduled tournaments and competitions.
• Make recommendations regarding the purchase of sport-specific items.
• Perform any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as assigned.

Person Specification

• Over 3 years’ experience in teaching, coaching and athletics administration.
• Level 2 hockey coaching certificates
• Member of The Kenya Hockey Union association.
• Coaching experience in a high school will be an added advantage.
• Experience in developing programs for youth and providing opportunities for students to participate and use questions to promote understanding and higher-level thinking skills relevant to sports
• Knowledgeable in teaching and coaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.
