Our mission is to empower women to make informed choices about their reproductive health, reducing maternal mortality from unsafe abortion.
Role Summary
The Pharmaceutical Technologist will be responsible for pharmaceutical dispensing and stock management at the Mombasa Centre. This includes receiving, storing, and distributing pharmaceutical products in compliance with MSK’s stock management policies. Collaborating with the Procurement Team, you’ll ensure our mission of Making Choice Possible for every Kenyan is upheld. This is a full-time position dedicated to enhancing our impact in healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Product Quality
- Ensure all drugs requested and purchased meet MSI Global standards and are approved by the Medical Development Team.
- Verify orders align with the Standard Product List and communicate any changes to the Deputy Directors of Quality Assurance and Procurement.
- Conduct quality checks and participate in pharmacovigilance sampling.
- Monitor drug expiration dates and minimum stock levels, reporting to the Centre Manager.
Stock and Inventory Management
- Coordinate the receipt, verification, and distribution of medical supplies to service points, ensuring quality (cold chain management, correct storage).
- Maintain updated stock cards and conduct weekly/monthly stock counts and reporting.
- Advise Centre teams on monthly/quarterly stock needs, helping forecast based on trends.
- Organize and oversee storage practices, re-order levels, FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) arrangements, and FIFO (First In, First Out) compliance.
Warehouse Management
- Verify receipts against purchase orders and maintain inbound records.
- Ensure proper storage, cleanliness, and organization of the pharmacy and storage areas.
- Manage the dispatch of products to service points, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
Documentation and Reporting
- Ensure thorough documentation of distribution forms, requisitions, and purchase orders.
- Compile stock reports for the Centre Manager and ensure completion of packaging slips.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Pharmacy accredited by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
- Registered as a Pharmaceutical Technologist.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical management, ideally with experience in medical store management and ERP systems.
Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency in stock and warehouse management, clinical operations, and ERP software.
- Knowledge of drug indications, contraindications, dosing, and administration.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with high accuracy and the ability to train others on inventory management.
