M.P Shah Hospital is looking to recruit a professional, and evidence-driven person for a vacancy in Pathology Department, as a Laboratory Technologist.
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the overall purpose is to carry out diagnostic tests in line with established protocols in order to facilitate clinicians to make proper diagnosis and provide appropriate treatment.
Duties & Responsibilities:Â
1. Receive and analyze laboratory specimens.
2. Maintain appropriate internal controls in the laboratory to ensure validity of reports.
3. Manage routine and planned preventive maintenance of equipment
4. Perform tests with maximum efficiency ensuring maximum utilization of reagents and time following laid down standard operating procedures.
5. Communicate urgent/critical/abnormal test results within recommended period of time and maintain appropriate documentation.
6. Observe/comply with Health & Safety requirements in the laboratory by maintaining high standards of hygiene and general cleanliness in the work area.
7. Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
8. Participate in continuous medical education
9. Receive specimens for pathology and carry out appropriate testing observing internal quality checks to ensure validity of test results.
10. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures
11. Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor or designee
Qualifications & RequirementsÂ
1. Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent from a recognized institution
2. Registration with Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board is mandatory
3. Minimum 3 (three) years’ working experience
4. Demonstrable computer literacy
