KNCHR Hiring Legal Officer

Job Purpose
This position is responsible for offering support to the Legal Services Division with regard to provision of legal services to the Commission.

Key Responsibilities

  1.  Drafting and filing pleadings, witness statements and other documents for use in court.
  2.  Drafting relevant legal opinions.
  3.  Drafting contracts and agreements.
  4.  Undertaking legal research, and drafting legal briefs and court documents.
  5.  Attending court on behalf of the Commission. 
  6.  Preparing activity reports.

Skills, Experience and Minimum Qualifications

  1.  Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized university and a Post graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
  2. 1 years of service in a comparable position from a reputable organization
  3.  Conversant and understanding of human rights principles
  4.  Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate
  5.  Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal and negotiation skills
  6.  Ability to work under pressure
  7.  Computer literacy
  8. Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
