Key Responsibilities:
i.Conducting fieldwork for data collection, including surveys and sample collection;
ii.Conducting laboratory experiments to optimize ONT protocols for pathogen detection;
iii.Utilizing ONT sequencing and bioinformatics tools to analyze genomic data and identify disease pathogens and antimicrobial resistance genes;
iv.Participating in training sessions and workshops aimed at building research translation skills and promoting evidence-based policymaking;
v.Contributing to the dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations at national and international conferences.

1 i. Must have a MSc in Biochemistry/Microbiology/Molecular Biology/Biotechnology/Genomics/Epidemiology or any related biological science course from a recognized institution and should have registered for PhD in any of the above-mentioned fields; Mandatory
2 ii. Familiar with conducting extensive literature reviews; Mandatory
3 iii. Conversant with microbial culture techniques and molecular epidemiology; Mandatory
4 iv. Experience in Laboratory Techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, and sequencing; Mandatory
5 v. Proficiency in bioinformatics analysis, including scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) and relevant software tools; Mandatory
6 vi. Familiar with whole genome sequence technologies and applications; Mandatory
